When I think about last week, my eyes start to fill with big, salty tears. I wish I could eloquently put into words how life-changing Pursuit Conference was for me. From speakers who shared not only their stories but their souls, to late nights chats tucked away in lofts with the sweetest of women, to learning more about myself than I ever thought I needed to know – I am BEYOND grateful for this entire experience.

It blows my mind to think that earlier this year, I had no intentions of going. I have always wanted to attend but it would never work out. This year would have been the same, just like every other year, wishing I could go and admiring everyone’s images on social media who were lucky enough to attend. But God had other plans. By His grace and the wonderful kindness of Justin and Mary, they gave me a way to get to exactly where I needed to be.

As I scrolled through my Instagram feed the week before Pursuit, I stumbled across Mary Marantz’s post that they were GIVING AWAY a seat to someone that needed it most. The only catch was you had to share why you thought you should go. I did my best to share my story and pour out my soul about how hard the last year of my life had been, how struggling with so much loss will eventually lead me to help others, and how I feel that I needed Pursuit more than ever before. Never in a million years did I think they would choose me but they did!! They knew how much I needed to be here, probably more than I did, and I will be forever thankful for that beautiful gift they gave me.

I arrived at Winshape Retreat, suitcase in hand and a look of bewilderment on my face, ready for whatever would happen in the next few days. I released any expectations I had and opened my mind and my heart to the journey. Throughout the week I met the most incredible women, listened to amazing speakers (many of which I am now I obsessed with), and let God speak to me in all sorts of beautiful ways. His biggest message to me is to let go and just be. Be content in the stillness. For a person who is always trying to plan, letting go can be very hard. But in those quiet times, in those hard times, I’m trying to let go of the need to plan and just be. I know He has the greatest plan of all and I need to trust in that.

One of the most beautiful and unexpected parts of this trip was how amazing all the other attendees were. I knew they would be great but I was blown away by how INCREDIBLE they were. I want to thank those wonderful women that worshipped alongside me, shared their lives, cried on my shoulder, passed me tissues when I couldn’t stop sobbing, prayed for me, explored and laughed with me – I hope you all know how truly wonderful and incredible you are! Without your openness and kind hearts, I know my time here would have been completely different. Thank you for taking me in and loving me, just as I am. I am a better person for having met you.

Oh Mary, a beautiful light in the world, my guardian angel. This woman has selflessly taken on the role of helping others and giving back in so many ways. For years, she inspired me with her beautiful images and her powerful words. It’s only within the last couple of years I’ve had the privilege to spend time with her and find out just how loving and giving her soul is. She believes in me, in all of us. By her example, she has taught me to serve and love others better. She has showed me so much kindness and I am forever grateful for all she has done for me. I wish I could give her big hugs everyday!

My roomie and my small group girls made this conference even better! I could talk to these beautiful ladies for hours. They now all have a special place in my heart and I’m so thankful for their kindness.

I finally met the Katelyn James! Oh my goodness! I have admired her work for years and I was thrilled to finally get the chance to meet her. Not only did I love hearing her speak but what I loved even more was sitting and chatting with her about balancing work and life, her adorable little dog, and her wonderful family until the late hours of the night.

RTS Founders and two of the sweetest girls on the planet, Natalie and Krista! I’m so thankful over the last few months I’ve had the chance to spend so much time with them. This conference brought us even closer together and I’m so honored that they shared so much of their lives with me! I’m truly inspired by their beautiful souls.

I met two incredible writers that I truly admire, Jon Acuff and Erika Morrison! They each write completely different types of literature but I’m equally inspired by them both! Seriously, if you have some time you MUST pick up Jon’s book Do Over and Erika’s book, Bandersnatch. You won’t be sorry!

I absolutely love these girls to the moon and back!! They are incredible people!!
