I have always wanted to photograph a surprise proposal! So when Nick messaged me a couple months ago, stating that he wanted to propose to his amazing girlfriend, Amanda, and wanted my help in capturing the moment I immediately said, “Of course!” For the next few months we schemed and planned the best possible place and time for him to pop the big question. We decided on the beautiful Green Bay Botanical Garden! It was the perfect backdrop to this life-changing event, plus there were plenty of places for me to hide!
The big day finally arrived and following the plan, I snuck into the Garden fifteen minutes ahead of Nick, Amanda and their two friends. Since Nick and Amanda actually live in Minnesota, we planned that they would tag along with their friends for a double date night in order to get Amanda to the garden. It totally worked! I hid by the fence and watched as the group entered. I stayed towards the left side of the garden as they started walking in the middle. As soon as they reached the spot we agreed upon (Nick and I scoped out the Garden earlier that day to pick the location), I hid in a bush and waited for the magic to happen. I haven’t been so nervous for a shoot in a long time, I did not want to miss the beautiful moment! But everything worked out perfectly and now these two lovebirds are engaged!!
