This past weekend I had the absolute pleasure of traveling to the sunny state of Florida. My dear friend, Colleen of Capture Life Moments, invited me to join her on this trip to help her photograph a wedding. It’s been over a year since I second shot a wedding so I was more than happy to work with her. Any chance I get to work with awesome photographers I love and admire, I jump at the opportunity. Learning from one another is seriously the best!
I have traveled to the eastern side of Florida many times, Miami is one of my favorite cities, but I never had the chance to explore the other side of the state. We flew into Tampa and stayed in St. Petersburg and without any expectations I took in all the sights, smells, and sounds of this new city. I was overwhelmed by the friendly people, the delicious food, and the gorgeous beaches. The brightly colored buildings reminded me of Charleston and put a smile on my face. We stayed at the cutest Airbnb right on the beach and tried to make the most of our short time there.
I fell in love with this area. Not just because the food was great, the people were so friendly (one couple was even nice enough to let me snuggle their Great Dane), or the shops were so unique – it was more than that. The warm breeze and vibrant colors put my soul at ease. I cannot explain it, all I know is that I felt at home. I’ve always wanted to live in the warmth, by the water and when my mom and aunt lived in Georgia, I tried to visit them whenever I could. Spending time at the beach or on an island is when I feel most at peace, like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I cannot wait to return to this beautiful city soon and hopefully stay longer than a few days.
This is Bosworth and I fell in love with him! He’s the sweetest dog ever and I wish I could have taken him home!
