On her wedding day, Nicole wore her sister’s veil and her father’s ring. She slipped into a form-fitting satin dress and stood barefoot in her hotel suite, surrounded by her girls, ready to marry the man she’s loved for years. She strolled along the beach to the ceremony site. As she walked, she felt the hot sand between her toes and a big smile crossed her face. Mexico was such a magical place and now it would hold a much more beautiful and meaningful spot in her heart. She stopped walking as she reached the aisle, her father took her arm and she looked up, noticing all her closest friends and family members looking back at her. But all she could see was the love of her life, Tony, waiting to meet her at the end of aisle to start their new beginning.
Nicole and Tony met in 2008 through mutual college friends. They were immediately drawn to each other’s laid back, easy going personalities. They started dating soon after but it wasn’t until Tony took Nicole up north to his family’s shack that he knew she was the one. As he recalls, “It is what it sounds like, it’s a hunting shack that was built for the men of the family to hunt and hang out. No showers, just running water for the sink and outdoor bathrooms. Nicole loved it and we had a really good time camping up there. She could roll with anything! That’s when I knew she was the one.”
And it was back up north that Tony proposed a few years later. Nicole remembers that moment as if it were yesterday! “We went up north to the shack and hiked up Butler Rock where he proposed. It was just the two of us sitting on top of the rock, looking down on all the trees. He had the GoPro on record while he was getting ready to propose (though, at the time, I thought he was just trying to capture the fall colors!) During the hike up, Tony had to take a break and I thought it was because he was out of breath, but really he was just nervous! When we reached the top, he proposed and I was definitely taken by surprise! Of course, I said, ‘yes!'”
These two chose to have a destination wedding in sunny Riviera Cancun, Mexico! Both of them studied aboard in Mexico and they just love being back there. A crew of over 40 of their closest friends and family joined them for this amazing experience and I was lucky enough to be a part of it! I spent the entire week with everyone and I had the most wonderful time. We laid on the beach, swam in the pool, tried new food, and danced every night. But nothing compared to how amazing the wedding day was! Sunny skies and smiling faces everywhere you looked! The day was absolutely perfect. We laughed, we danced, and most importantly, we watched Nicole and Tony promise to spend their lives together.
Congratulations Nicole and Tony! I wish you both so much joy and happiness for the rest of your lives!
