Carley and Ryan first met a couple years ago at work. Their “work place” may be a little different than the average office. Carley, an Assistant District Attorney, entered one of the courtrooms at the Brown County Courthouse one day, ready to prosecute her next case. She thought this day would be like any other work day until she saw the police officer in the room, Ryan. She felt immediately drawn to him and wanted to know more. Thankfully, they both attended a conference in Wisconsin Dells a couple weeks later, where they got the chance to learn more about each other and get closer. From then on the two started an amazing adventure together and began dating.
It did not take long for this happy couple to know they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. On Ryan’s birthday, the two took a trip to Chicago for a weekend full of their favorite things: wine, food, and fun. Little did Carley know, Ryan had planned a surprise of his own. He rented a charter to take them for a sunset cruise. They boarded the most beautiful boat and had a wonderful time gazing at the Chicago skyscrapers from the water. Halfway through the cruise, they were dropped off at a lakefront park. Carley was shocked to see dozens of candles and photos of the two of them covering the park. She could hear a violin softly playing in the background as Ryan led her to the area where the candles formed the shape of a heart. There, he got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife. Completely stunned and surprised, Carley said, “are you joking?” then started crying and said “YES!” The newly engaged couple headed back to the charter to finish their cruise, celebrate with champagne, and watch the fireworks light up the night sky above them!
Now these two are planning a beautiful Door County wedding for next summer. For their Engagement Session, we wanted to incorporate all of the things they love to do together: spending time in Door County, lazy days at the beach, and drinking champagne. We photographed at the lovely Whitefish Dunes and were pleasantly surprised to have the WHOLE beach to ourselves! I had a wonderful time photographing this happy couple as they sipped champagne, ran of the beach and splashed in the water. I could have spent all day with them, they were so nice and wonderful to be around!
I’m in LOVE with this stunning bouquet that Sunny, from Ebb & Flow Flowers, made for our session.
Seriously?! How cute are these two together?!!
After the first few months of dating, Carley and Ryan took a trip to Door County. At one of the shops there, they found these rings with “Mo Anam Cara” (a Celtic translation meaning “my soulmate”) engraved on them. They both knew they had to have them and they both wear them everyday, even before they were engaged!! Awwww!
The courthouse is really special to Carley and Ryan, it’s where they work and where they first met. So we just had to spend some time photographing there. I love all the history and beauty we found at the courthouse.
This was my first time ever being in a courtroom and I was in awe of it’s majesty and beauty.
Their dog, Walter, made a guest appearance!
