Ellie, my grandmother
(mother of 6 and grandmother of many)
It warms my heart to write this since Ellie is my own grandmother.
She grew up on a farm in Wisconsin and after her mother died when she was only thirteen, she quit school to take care of her younger brothers and sisters. It taught her to be very tough and that carried through her whole life (she is so tough, she beat cancer, twice!)
She met my grandfather and they married in 1958. They had six children in seven years and even though it kept her busy, she never felt like it was work. Their lives revolved around family parties, birthdays, trips to the park, baseball games and always making a huge meal with whatever event!
Now that all her children are grown adults, she enjoys being a grandmother more. “Spoil them and send them home.”
Love you, Grandma!
My mother and grandmother
This is my grandmother’s basement. I’ve spent many holidays here and it hasn’t changed since I was little. This place is magic.
