Running a business is no joke. It’s full of tough decisions, deadlines, and serving clients all while trying to balance your personal life. It can be exhausting and overwhelming at times, especially if you have to do it all alone. But what if there was a way that you could share the workload? A way that you didn’t have to carry all those burdens by yourself? On today’s Tell-All Tuesday, Kay + Bee are taking over to talk about why finding a business partner could be your best idea!

“Let’s talk about second shooting each other’s weddings this year. Starbucks? 5:00pm?”

That’s the sentence that changed the course of our lives. I was working a 9-5 as an Office Manager’s assistant while Ashley K. was debating which way her life should go; acting or photographing, both drowning in photography on the side. One Starbucks Meeting, one business, four years and almost 100 weddings later, we are more at peace than we’ve ever been.

The emails pour in. Lonely #girlboss after another ask, “How did you do find a business partner?” but more importantly and what we’re going to get into today, “WHY did you find a business partner?” Girl, do we have some eye-openers for you!

Share Responsibilities
This is quite possibly my favorite part of having a business partner. The fact that you get to share responsibilities and work-hats with someone is by-far the best part of being in business with someone. Having a business partner allows you to divide up your responsibilities and give each one to the business owner that excels in that field. In turn, you get to do more of what you love and less of what you don’t.

Emotional Support
Sometimes, life doesn’t always go as planned and at those times, the workload can be too heavy. Instead of putting work on the back-burner or overwhelming yourself when you literally cannot, having a business partner allows you to be able to have some slack, share your responsibilities, and take some must-needed R&R.

Boost Income
Having two of you, you’re able to spend time growing your business doing what you’re good at and enjoy while your partner does the other half of the work, which in turn boosts your productivity and your income. Say what!? Yes please.

Brainstorming Buddy
When you have a good idea, but you can’t work out the kinks in it, you have an automatic like-minded creative to brainstorm with to make that idea even better. You also get a different perspective and viewpoint when you’re making business decisions which only leads to making the best possible decision that you can.

Accountability Partner
Before merging my business with my business partner, Ashley K’s, I probably wasn’t the most accountable. Afterwards, everything changed. Having a partner, you have someone to check up on what you’re working on, helping you achieve deadlines, and someone that’s rear-end is also on the line. That alone would keep any entrepreneur in check!

You’ll be told time and time again that it could be a bad idea getting into business with your friend and you know what, it might be… but what if it’s not? What if you don’t have to be alone anymore in the growing mountain of to-do lists and sessions to cull? What if you can actually spend more time putting what you enjoy into the world? What if it’s the best idea you ever had?

xoxo,
Ashley B.

Amy - Thank you for this! These are all really wonderful reasons as to the why. Will you be talking at all about the how? I would LOVE to find a business partner! But everyone I know in the industry (and I know a lot of people) have their own businesses they are trying to grow and are not looking to give that up to merge with someone else. I would love to hear your tips on how you find someone and how you make it work for both parties involved!ReplyCancel

Soupha and Daniel met in November of 2011 at Best Buy, where they both worked. Even though they had worked together for years, it took a while before they started dating. But as soon as they took that leap, they never looked back. They are best friends and love traveling together, trying new foods, or just snuggling up to watch a good movie or enjoy a show on Netflix. They are happy whenever they are together!

They knew they wanted to spend their lives together so while they were visiting Dan’s brother in Los Angeles, Dan proposed! On the last day of their trip, they were headed to a pool party when Dan took them on a detour to a private airport. Soupha didn’t know what to think and still remembers the moment as if it were yesterday. “It was super romantic. Dan and the pilot flew us over LA and Hollywood so we all could take in the beautiful view. Dan handed me his phone to show me a slideshow he had created of all of our adventures together. At the end of the video, he said ‘will you marry me?'” Of course, Soupha said “yes” and the two celebrated as soon as they landed!

Adventorous by nature, they knew they didn’t want a “normal” wedding. With their family and friends by their side, they flew off to Mexico to say “I do!” Everything about their wedding was so fun and relaxing. The entire wedding party spent the morning lounging in the pool and getting ready for the day ahead. After changing into their wedding attire, they were married at the Pier overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. Once the ceremony finished, the party really started! The night was full of fun, complete with a mariachi band, Lupito the donkey bar, delicious food, and SO much dancing!

Congratulations Soupha & Daniel! Here’s to many new adventures!

Seriously, how stunning are those shoes?!

Soupha makes the most beautiful bride!

Can you imagine a more beautiful ceremony site?!

Married!! Woohoo!

The Newlyweds, Mr. & Mrs. Sweetman!

They are too cute together!

They cannot help but smile when they are together!

Thanks to all the amazing wedding vendors that helped make Soupha & Daniel’s big day wonderful!

Fresh Brewed Friday – My weekly “coffee date” with you all

Happenings: Photographed Hailey and Brandon’s Engagement Session in Door County this Saturday. I had a blast with this happy and fun-loving couple!

Celebrated Palm Sunday! As many of you know, I’ve been searching for a church that makes my heart sing. I’ve recently been attending services at Celebration Church and I’m loving it! After spending my morning at church, I spent the rest of the beautiful day working on my garden!

Spent another Monday hanging with two of my really good friends. We eat lunch, drink tea, and talk for hours. It’s so nice to have an outlet to spend time with other creatives, just relaxing and sharing ideas.

Hosted another awesome TuesdaysTogether meetup for The Rising Tide Society! This month we met at Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary and had so much fun playing with the cats and discussing personality types!

New Favorite: La La Land! It’s not a new favorite but I loved seeing it for the third time this week. If you haven’t yet, you HAVE to see it!

Thankful: My garden. It’s finally blooming and it’s so beautiful. Every time I see it, it fills me with joy. It’s the little things that make me so happy.
