Running a business is no joke. It’s full of tough decisions, deadlines, and serving clients all while trying to balance your personal life. It can be exhausting and overwhelming at times, especially if you have to do it all alone. But what if there was a way that you could share the workload? A way that you didn’t have to carry all those burdens by yourself? On today’s Tell-All Tuesday, Kay + Bee are taking over to talk about why finding a business partner could be your best idea!

“Let’s talk about second shooting each other’s weddings this year. Starbucks? 5:00pm?”

That’s the sentence that changed the course of our lives. I was working a 9-5 as an Office Manager’s assistant while Ashley K. was debating which way her life should go; acting or photographing, both drowning in photography on the side. One Starbucks Meeting, one business, four years and almost 100 weddings later, we are more at peace than we’ve ever been.

The emails pour in. Lonely #girlboss after another ask, “How did you do find a business partner?” but more importantly and what we’re going to get into today, “WHY did you find a business partner?” Girl, do we have some eye-openers for you!

Share Responsibilities
This is quite possibly my favorite part of having a business partner. The fact that you get to share responsibilities and work-hats with someone is by-far the best part of being in business with someone. Having a business partner allows you to divide up your responsibilities and give each one to the business owner that excels in that field. In turn, you get to do more of what you love and less of what you don’t.

Emotional Support
Sometimes, life doesn’t always go as planned and at those times, the workload can be too heavy. Instead of putting work on the back-burner or overwhelming yourself when you literally cannot, having a business partner allows you to be able to have some slack, share your responsibilities, and take some must-needed R&R.

Boost Income
Having two of you, you’re able to spend time growing your business doing what you’re good at and enjoy while your partner does the other half of the work, which in turn boosts your productivity and your income. Say what!? Yes please.

Brainstorming Buddy
When you have a good idea, but you can’t work out the kinks in it, you have an automatic like-minded creative to brainstorm with to make that idea even better. You also get a different perspective and viewpoint when you’re making business decisions which only leads to making the best possible decision that you can.

Accountability Partner
Before merging my business with my business partner, Ashley K’s, I probably wasn’t the most accountable. Afterwards, everything changed. Having a partner, you have someone to check up on what you’re working on, helping you achieve deadlines, and someone that’s rear-end is also on the line. That alone would keep any entrepreneur in check!

You’ll be told time and time again that it could be a bad idea getting into business with your friend and you know what, it might be… but what if it’s not? What if you don’t have to be alone anymore in the growing mountain of to-do lists and sessions to cull? What if you can actually spend more time putting what you enjoy into the world? What if it’s the best idea you ever had?

Meet the Ashleys
Ashley Knolla and Ashley Burbank of Kay + Bee are wedding photographers based out of Wichita, Kansas. Since becoming business partners in 2013, they have photographed nearly 100 weddings together as a very dynamic duo. Although their personalities are quite opposite, they use those differences to their advantage daily which allows them to be able to do more of what they love and less of what they don’t. Although polar opposites, Ashley and Ashley share a love for health, travel, and sugar cookies!
