Sara and Zach started dating the summer before their freshman year of high school but they met long before then. Throughout grade school, they would ride the bus together on their way to school. Their friendship grew over the years so when their relationship began, they felt like they already knew each other so well. They always shared a deep connection and they even talked about marriage in high school but knew they were too young. Instead of rushing into it, they chose to continue dating through high school and college and really focus on building a strong relationship together.

After years of dating and strengthening their relationship, they are finally engaged! Zach proposed last Christmas and Sara remembers this beautiful moment as if it were yesterday! “I moved to Minnesota (where he had been living for 2 months prior for his job training and I was back home finishing school), so we decided to open Christmas presents when I moved the Sunday after Christmas. Zach opened up all his presents and then I opened mine. He went back to his room and came out holding something behind his back and said ‘I have one more gift.’ All of a sudden, there he was asking me to marry him!!! Of course, I said ‘yes!'”

To celebrate their engagement, we traveled to Door County to explore and photograph their Engagement Session! We started at the always beautiful Whitefish Dunes and Cave Point Park. These two love getting ice cream together (but really, who doesn’t love ice cream?), Zach’s grandmother actually owns an ice cream shop, so we made a pitstop half-way through the shoot to enjoy some ice cream at Not Licked Yet Frozen Custard in Fish Creek. After we had our fill of delicious sundaes, we walked down to Fish Creek’s marina to take in the beauty of the sun setting. I had so much fun photographing this wonderful couple and I cannot wait for their wedding next June!
