December 31, 2019
My word for 2019 was Abundance. I didn’t exactly know what type of abundance but I knew I wanted to live life and live it to the fullest. When I was reviewing the year I wasn’t sure if I completed that task but after going through all these photos from 2019, I now know that I have.
When I create these yearly posts, it’s not to boast my successes. It’s not to say that my year was perfect either. Like every year; there are ups and downs, triumphs and losses, joys and insecurities. But the power in sharing these happy moments, is that years from now, these moments are the ones we remember. It reminds us all that those lows help shape us into the people we are today but we choose to remember the goodness that our life has brought us.
The beauty of this post is that it’s not only last year, but it’s the last part of a decade. If you would have told me on New Year’s Eve night in 2009 that I would be running my photography business full time (and have been for the last five years), married to my best friend, living in a beautiful home, and snuggling three kitties – I would have jumped for joy! 10 years ago, I had graduated from my photography program but I was living back with my parents, not a clue what to do. So many of the things I have now, the things I sometimes take for granted, I once prayed for.
So wherever you may be in your life, in your journey – find the good. Find the joy. Choose to reminisce about the blessings in your life. Write down everything you did in the last year, in the last decade and realize just how much you accomplished. I’m sure it’s a lot more than you think. Stop being so hard on yourself and stop judging your year to someone else’s year. Choose love, forgive freely, and most importantly – live abundantly.
Thank you 2019 for all you brought! I’m SO ready for 2020 and to start this new decade!
