Every year, I like to pick a word or phrase that inspires me and what I hope the new year will bring. In the past it’s been words like Surrender, Abundance, Becoming, Embrace. When thinking about 2022, there weren’t any single words that came to mind. The closest was Joy but even that didn’t feel exactly right. What I realized I want most for 2022 was simple – I want to LIVE every single day.
I rewatched the Disney movie Soul a few weeks ago (I’ve been on a bit of a Disney kick lately.) At the end, the main character is asked what he’s going to do with his second chance. He realizes life isn’t only about chasing dreams and accomplishing goals. When thinking about life he says, “I’m going to live every minute of it.” For some reason, I felt that SO deeply. It’s exactly what I want to bring into 2022.
Yes, I may have other goals or ideas about the new year but I truly just want to live every day. I want to find joy in the ordinary, in the quiet moments, in the unexpected. It’s a gift to be alive and I don’t want to forget that. I want to appreciate the people in my life, the family members and friends who have continued to stand by my side. When we are so focused on the next thing, we miss the beauty in the everyday. I don’t want to miss anything 2022 has to offer.
I’m so thankful for my friends at MudLOVE for helping me remember my motto for the new year with this custom mug! One of the reasons I love this company is that they are all about giving back and making a difference for good. Every MudLOVE purchase provides one week of clean water to someone in the Central African Republic through Water for Good. They are currently running a sale on their custom products, like this gorgeous mug! Plus you can receive free shipping during the month of January with the code: SHAUNAE22.
I hope you live every day in 2022, friends. I hope you see the beauty that surrounds you too.
