Happy Birthday to me! 🎉
As I was approaching my birthday this year, I couldn’t help but think how big this one is. Not only is it my golden birthday and my first birthday as a wife, but it’s also the last year in my 20’s. Some people would be afraid of that last part but honestly, I couldn’t be more excited. I keep telling Matt that I cannot wait to be 30! My 20’s were full of self discovery, lots of goodness, hardships, and SO much learning. I’ve come so far from when I was 19 to now being 29 that I cannot wait to see what another 10 years will bring me.
Thinking about almost being 30 had me reflecting on all the things I’ve accomplished in this decade while questioning all the things I have not accomplished yet. I’m really lucky to have experienced a lot of good things. I graduated college, started a business, bought a house, traveled all over the country, and got married. That would be enough for most people but being the crazy perfectionist I am (I’m working on it,) I was curious to see what else I could do in the last year of my 20’s.
From there, the 30 Before 30 project was born.
I’ve complied a list of 30 things I want to accomplish before I turn 30. I love challenging myself and getting uncomfortable, that’s where growth happens. Some of the things on this list will be more challenging and some may seem simple, but there’s truth in it when I say I’ve never done it. Like doing a cartwheel! I never learned! These 30 things are super personal to me but I’m excited to share them with you all.
Over the next year, I will work on accomplishing each and every item. There is no order of how I plan to accomplish them. They just all have to try and be complete by November 29, 2020. I understand a few things are out of my control and if I don’t accomplish everything, at least I tried. I will be documenting my progress along the way through blog posts and email updates, but the majority of it will be found on my Instagram and Facebook pages under the hashtag, #shaunae30by30. I’m not just sharing my successes, I’ll be very open about my struggles and challenges that I’m sure will come. I’m hoping to learn more about myself in this journey and to really try new things, things I may never have tried!
Thank you for letting me share with you all. I hope you’ll join me on this adventure!

I love the way your mind works Shaunae, you are inspirational!
um I LOVE this. I totally need to do this! If you need a camping buddy or accountability buddy for the 52 books in a year, let me know ;) Those sound SO perfect! Journaling and spending time in the Word are going on my list too!! <3
I love this! I did something similar for my last year of 29—I had a bunch of fun things I wanted to do before 30, the main goal being to really embrace my last year in my 20s and do things I might not be able to do (or do as easily) in this next decade. If there’s anything this last year taught me, it’s that a lot can happen in a year. I wish you the best in this challenge, and whatever the outcome, know you will succeed!
