When you think of my name, I bet one of the first things you use to describe me is cat lady. You’re right! Cats are just so cute and hilarious and make the best snugglers. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love dogs too but cats will always hold a special place in my heart. I’ve had my two black cats, Alexander and Clementine, for almost a decade now. I have always dreamed of having more.
I had no intention of bringing a new cat home right away. Matt, who has never been much of a cat person (even though he secretly loves Alexander and Clementine,) has been so gracious with me and my insane love of cats. I wanted to wait to ease him into my crazy cat lady ways. But when I walked into Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary to meet some of the new kitties that had just arrived, this sweet black cat came up to me.
She was SO affectionate and I instantly fell in love with her. I fall in love with a lot of cats but I just knew she needed to come home with me. She had been on the euthanasia list with animal control in Texas for no reason, just because she was a stray. But a wonderful vet there connected with Safe Haven and had her transported up here in hopes that she could find her forever home. We are so happy we can be her forever home!
We are SO very honored and excited to announce that we’ve adopted this sweet black kitty. She is now the newest member of our family. Meet Johanna!
She was given a different name when she was rescued but because it was so recent we were able to change it. We chose Johanna (silent h) for so many wonderful reasons that when we thought about it, it just made sense! The most important one is that Johanna is a derivative of Joan (my aunt who passed away and meant the world to me.) It’s like a little reminder of her everyday. We also loved that Johanna is from Texas just like Joanna Gaines, haha.
After a little hesitation, Alexander and Clementine, welcomed her into their little tribe!
I feel like a proud cat mom. Updated portraits of all my babies! (from left to right – Alexander, Johanna, Clementine)
This outtake from our mini photo shoot makes me laugh! I feel like she’s saying “Whaaaattt?! You are my family now?!”
iPhone snapshots of our first week together!
When I look at her, it feels so right and I’m thrilled that she’s home with us!
Oh my word! She’s so adorable!!! I am a huge cat lover too so I practically freaked out when I saw you had a new cat! And of course had to show every picture of your adorable cats to my sister!
