Today, I slept in until 8:30am. Nestled underneath my comforter, I let my internal clock wake me instead of my alarm. Eyes still sleepy, I passed my home office and headed straight to the kitchen to make avocado toast and brew a pot of coffee. With the cats watching from the window, I ate breakfast outside on my front porch. I listened to the whistling of the wind as I rocked back and forth on my porch swing. I greeted the day fresh, renewed, and full of excitement.
But the old Shaunae would have felt guilty. Guilty that she slept in. Guilty that the newest blog post wasn’t ready. Guilty that she took the morning off for herself. But not any more. The new Shaunae, the Shaunae I am today, listens to her body and her mind. She makes her to-do list, accomplishes her goals, and isn’t so hard on herself anymore. I am human and that’s ok! Somedays extra sleep and stoping to enjoy the morning is more important than pushing some lackluster post out or sending some hurried email. It’s ok to take a moment for YOU!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for hard work! Yesterday, I crushed it from 6am all the way to 9pm. Between emails, meetings, blog prepping, grocery shopping, exercising, laundry, and yard work, I was the queen of the to-do list! But if I chose to live everyday that way, I would miss out. Miss out on big moments and small, yet still incredible, everyday moments. Life is about balance and no matter what, I choose to live guilt-free. I won’t feel guilty if I work too hard one day and take a break another day. I am creating balance and enjoying life!
Yes, this Tell-All Tuesday could be full of more content. Yes, I could have created more photos for this post. Yes, I could have been further along on today’s list of duties. But I refuse to feel guilty that I gave myself a little time to enjoy the day and I think you shouldn’t feel guilty either. I give you permission to take a moment for yourself today. Even if it’s just five minutes. Each day is a gift, don’t let it pass you by without taking the time to appreciate it. I promise you, your work will still be waiting for you when you’re done but you’ll feel much happier when you get to it.
Join me in living guilt-free and making the most out of each day! Embrace this day, my friends!
