While I was in Los Angeles last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Alexa and Emory, the owners of Twenty Stories, LA’s Mobile Bookstore. “Twenty Stories is an independent mobile bookstore operated out of a renovated vintage van,” they state on their website. “Each month the van carries twenty new book titles in the genres of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction, as well as literary and cultural magazines. The book selection values innovative and emerging writers and presses, as well as established authors in the literary community.”
Both writers themselves, Alexa and Emory’s goal is grow the literary community. In this day and age where everything is digital, these visionary writers dream of slowing things down and making people fall in love with reading again. By creating their mobile bookstore, they plan to make the book buying process simple, fun, and totally rewarding. They are currently stationed in Los Angeles and will pop up all around the city.
I’m not so secretly obsessed with this amazing little company now. Even though my suitcase was already over 50 pounds when I flew out to LA, I still bought a ton of books from them to bring back to Wisconsin. Luckily, you don’t have to go to LA to order books from them. They have an online shop with all their books too! If you are interested in what I’m reading now, let me know and I’d be happy to share. There may even be a little book club starting soon.
Thanks for being awesome, Alexa and Emory! I loved spending time with you two and your amazing mobile bookstore!
