“I think there are only two instructions we need to follow to develop and deepen our spiritual life: slow down and let go.”
With owning a business, I feel so plugged in to everything – constantly checking my emails, prepping my blog posts, and posting on Facebook and Instagram. Always feeling like I “have to” respond right away to please others. It can feel so tiring but I stick with it because I become so afraid I’m going to miss out on a new client or a new opportunity. What I’m realizing is the more I’m “plugged in”, the more I’m missing out on what really matters. Truthfully, none of these online issues/emails/posts are so important that they need to be done right away and at the cost of losing time with friends and family. I know those things have to change in my life so I have cut back on mindless scrolling, started scheduling posts, and now I turn my phone off by 8pm so I can actually unwind for a little bit. To me, those are great steps, but I need more. I need to completely disconnect and reconnect with what matters in life.
That’s why I’m so excited for the Pursuit Conference this week! A full week to unplug, unwind, and strengthen my relationship with God. A chance to refocus and regroup before wedding season hits. A chance to tune in to what really matters without any online distractions. A chance to listen rather than just respond as fast as possible. I’m so looking forward to connecting with amazing women and listening to wonderful speakers everyday!
I’m taking this opportunity to slow down and just BE. I will not be blogging or emailing or checking Facebook or Instagram for the next few days. I am choosing to be silent so I can take in anything and everything from this retreat. I encourage you to take some time, even just a little bit, to do the same.
It’s so, so good to slow down a bit! Enjoy this week – and welcome to GA! :)
