“Love is like a large white cat sitting on its paws. You may pet it all you like; it lives by its own laws. It comes and goes as it decides no matter what you say. The more you want it near, the more it goes away. And then when you are quite content to sit out in the sun alone with just your thoughts and dreams, not needing anyone. Out it comes, as if in fear that somehow you’ll forget, and jumps up purring in your lap, demanding to be pet.”
This cute little poem was one of the readings in Elissa and Andrew’s wedding. Of course, it fit them perfectly, because they are HUGE cat people. It was one of the first things we connected on when they hired me to be their wedding photographer. It was only fitting that they should celebrate their love of cats at their wedding. They pulled it off “puuuurfectly.” My little cat lady heart was in HEAVEN over this wedding.
Not only did they celebrate their love of cats, they celebrated their uniqueness too. Like the choice to not have a bridal party, Elissa’s GORGEOUS floral wedding dress, having everyone wear cat ears at their reception, and saying “meow” right after they shared their vows. I think my favorite part of their day though was when we stopped by their house to take photos with their cats Mr. Kitty and Woody. We had to, they were the “Cats of Honor.”
Thank you Elissa and Andrew for allowing this cat lady to take part in your day. I wish everyone loved cats as much as you two do! Cheers to a happy marriage, I hope it lasts for not just one lifetime but nine lifetimes like your kitties.
