Even though Chrissy and Phill grew up twenty minutes away from each other in Green Bay, they didn’t meet until they both started medical school in Madison, Wisconsin. Chrissy remembers the exact date: August 15th 2012, better known as “move-in” day in Madison. They were random Craigslist housemates for two years before they finally started dating. When they first met, Chrissy thought Phill was a little strange because he had three bikes. She thought, “Who needs three bikes?” Fast forward six years and now Chrissy now owns four bikes herself.
Phill and Chrissy have had many adventures during their time dating. One of their very first dates was taking a picnic sail on Lake Mendota. I love hearing Chrissy tell this story, “It was a windy day, so I dutifully stood on the dock and held the rope while Phill made preparations. Finally, he told me to step on the boat while giving a big push off the dock. I did what he told me, but the instant I stepped on, the boat rocked almost all the way, nearly capsizing! I ended up in the water, and came up for air only to see Phill still on the sailboat being whisked away by the strong winds. ‘I’ll come back for you!’ he called and he did. Luckily, it was a warm day and our lunch was still dry so we could still enjoy the sail.”
Currently living in St. Paul for their specialty training, this past spring they made it back to Madison to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The following day, Phill and Chrissy took a bike ride around the city. They enjoyed the lakes and old sights as they reminisced about their years in Madison. They took a walk along Picnic Point and managed to find one of their favorite spots. Phill set up his GoPro camera to take a photo (which he does pretty routinely, so it wasn’t too much of a surprise.) They posed for a few photos, then he turned to Chrissy and said “One more memory” before dropping down on one knee! Even though it was April Fools Day, this was no joke and Chrissy said, “yes!”
What better way to celebrate these two and their adventurous spirits with a gorgeous Engagement Session, complete with a little rowboat! Don’t worry, no one fell in this time. The location for our shoot actually belongs to Phill’s family! It was beyond beautiful and I really loved getting to know this happy couple more!
