April 15, 2015
A couple months ago I won a gift card from an Instagram contest from the most wonderful wedding photographers, Justin and Mary. I gushed in my email to Mary, thanking her and telling her how much I love the work that she and Justin does and some day I would be honored to learn from them. To my surprise, she emailed me back within a couple of hours saying, “Quick question: would you have any interest in coming to our April Walk Through?” I just about jumped out of my chair! YES! YES! YES! When Mary of Justin and Mary ask you if you want to join their workshop, how can you say no?!
Two months after that email, I drove cross country to New Haven, Connecticut to be a part of Justin and Mary’s Walk Through a Wedding Workshop! This two day, extremely intensive workshop has changed my life. Justin and Mary welcomed me and all the other attendees with open arms and open hearts. They shared with us all the information they have learned over the years, not just technical information on gear but also what they’ve learned in business. Those two days flew by and left me feeling fired up about photography and my business. This workshop reignited my passion for my work and I’m thrilled to take everything I learned and apply it to my business.
Even though the workshop was an intense two days, it was still full of love and laughter. Justin and Mary invited all the attendees into their home the night before for a gorgeous styled welcome dinner. Justin cooked a delicious meal for everyone and we ended the night with wine and a game of “Heads Up.” Throughout the workshop, we would take coffee breaks to process all the new information we learned and chat about our lives back home. We shared stories with each other on why we started our journey into photography. We laughed, we cried, and we grew closer to one another. I’m so thankful for all the amazing attendees that I learned alongside with. These beautiful people now hold a special place in my heart and I cannot wait to see all the lovely work they will create!
This workshop has been a dream come true for me and I’m grateful for all that I learned!
Day One of the Workshop Begins!
These two right here… I don’t even know where to begin. I cannot thank them enough!! They graciously opened their arms to me and taught me so much. What they do for photographers is incredible! They could just easily keep all this information to themselves but instead they choose to share it with the world! I think they are a shinning example of how wonderful and powerful this photography community can be. They use their strengths to lift others up instead of comparing and tearing them down. I am beyond blessed that I had the opportunity to work with them and I am eternally grateful for all they have done for me.
Day Two Begins
I snapped a couple behind the scene shots on my iPhone during the whole workshop. Check out my Instagram (@shaunaeteske) to see all the BTS footage.
This notebook was empty when I started and now it’s almost full! So many notes!!
A HUGE thank you to all the incredibly talented professionals that helped make our shoots look amazing! Not only did everything look beautiful, they were also sweet and lovely to work with.
