I’m SO excited to share this beautiful backyard Seattle wedding! Elyse and Kirk first met on October 14th, 2018. Elyse remembers that Kirk gave off a kind energy and Kirk thought Elyse’s laugh was wonderful and endearing. For Elyse she knew Kirk was the one for her during the pandemic. She says, “A couple of months into the pandemic, while sitting on the couch in our 900 square foot cramped, dark apartment, I realized that if we could be this happy doing what seemed like the same thing every day and physically spending time with only each other, that Kirk was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.”

They love to spend their time hiking around Seattle, spending time with family, enjoying vegan and GF ice cream from Frankie and Jo’s, and watching their favorite shows (Elyse loves “This is Us” while Kirk would rather watch football.) Kirk proposed during a walk along the Deschutes River. Elyse shares the story, “At one point, after around a minute of silence, he started shaking (I honestly thought he was going to ask for help finding a restroom), said ‘I had a speech planned, but I’m too nervous to say it’, then got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked me to marry him. In true awkward Elyse fashion, I laughed before eventually saying yes.”

These two then planned a stunning, intimate wedding right in their own backyard! They recently bought their home in 2020 and worked on making the entire place beautiful. For the wedding, they did all the landscaping themselves to create the perfect space for friends and family members to gather. My favorite part of the day is how they incorporated their sweet daughter, Adrienne, into everything they did. I loved being able to capture their special day and give them these beautiful images to love for a lifetime.
