Do you get dozens of Christmas and holiday cards every December and don’t know what to do with them? You want to showcase them but if you place them on the fireplace mantel or on your dining room table, it gets so cluttered. Where do they all go so they don’t end up in the junk draw?
Your staircase! This way, the cards you receive from your family and friends can become a part of your holiday decor! I do this every year and without fail, people always ask me about this. So, this year I wanted to share how I easily make this holiday card display work every time.
What You Need:
• Your favorite greens or garland (can be fresh or artificial – mine are from Hobby Lobby)
• Twist ties (a color that matches your staircase spindles)
• Clothespins (I chose the large ones so they could hold the card and the green and not pop off)
Instructions
1. Measure your staircase to ensure that you have enough garland – for my staircase, I needed two 6′ pieces to cover it
2. Layout your greens before you start adding them so you can see how they will lay
3. Using the twist ties, start at one end of the staircase and twist a piece of the garland to the top of each spindle
4. Use the clothespins to attach holiday cards to the greens
Bonus Tips: I chose this garland because it had enough space for cards to hang from. When choosing or making your perfect garland, try to avoid full pieces. Give your cards room to “breathe” while they are being displayed.
You could also use Command Hooks to hang your garland anywhere in your home! Then you could still hang the cards off the greens with clothespins and create a fun holiday look.
Using artificial greens means you can store them away and bring them out every season!
