Kyle and I love watching movies. If it’s a Friday night and we have no plans, you can usually find us sitting at home on our comfy couch, drinking wine, and watching movies. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I suggest you take our normal Friday night routine and create an amazing Movie Date Night out of it! Make some popcorn, pick out your favorite treats and snuggle up with your honey to a night of awesome movies. To make the movie selection process easy for you, I complied a list of my favorite romantic movies, Kyle’s favorites, and the one movie we always love to watch together.
Shaunae’s Favorites
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – It’s cute, fun, and Kate Hudson looks gorgeous throughout the entire movie! I need her clothes!
Sleepless in Seattle – I love watching this movie and I have probably seen it a dozen times. You can’t go wrong with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. This is the movie I watch when there is nothing else on and I want something nice to end the day with.
P.S. I Love You – This movie makes me cry every time but it’s probably my favorite out of all of these. Even just thinking about it now I could cry. Also, Gerard Butler’s in it. Need I say more?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – Not only is this movie beautiful but it’s also extremely well made. I’m mesmerized by how it’s filmed. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet do an amazing job and I love that their characters are still drawn to each other no matter what.
An Affair to Remember – An all time classic! And c’mon, you know when you read that title you quoted Deborah Kerr’s famous line, “Winter must be cold for those with no warm memories… we’ve already missed the spring!”
Kyle’s Favorites
An Officer and a Gentleman – Great ’80s classic! Richard Gere is awesome!
Princess Bride – It’s a fantastic fairy tale with funny characters and great storytelling. I can still hear Westley saying, “As you wish…”
Far and Away – A great drama! It’s hard not to root for Tom Cruise’s character. You want him and and Nicole Kidman’s character to make it in America and find everything they’ve ever dreamed of!
UP – We always cry within the first five minutes of watching this movie. Such a wonderful story about finding life after love and realizing the greatest adventure isn’t always about where you go but who you are with.
Jerry Maguire – “You had me at Hello.” “Show Me the Money.” Not only does this movie have a cute love story but it’s full of memorable lines and great characters.
And our Favorite Movie to Watch Together…
Titanic! – The incredibly talented Leonardo DiCaprio mixed with a little Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On,” makes my heart melt every time. I remember seeing it in the movie theater with my parents when I was young and I have loved it ever since. Kyle and I even went to see it in theaters when they re-released the 3D version. I have to admit though, I usually like turning this movie off right after they hit the iceberg and pretend Jack and Rose live happily ever after.
