Kristen & Matt are married!!
These two lovebirds met four (almost five) years ago through mutual friends when Kristen’s friend was dating Matt’s roommate. They both felt drawn to one another even though Kristen thought Matt was very shy at first. Their connection could not be ignored and soon they started dating. I love how Matt described meeting Kristen for the first time, “I thought she was strange in the most beautiful way. I remember being quite nervous when we first met because I had instantly mapped out this fantasy future between us and wasn’t sure how to get to the first part!”
The night of the proposal, Matt had lit 100 tea light candles around the apartment they shared together. In the background he had their song, “My Little Dreamer” by Future Islands, playing and wrote, “Kristen, will you marry me?” on an old projector. Astounded, Kristen muttered, “Is this real?” After realizing it was, in fact, real, she started crying and said yes!
Their wedding was incredibly special to me and served as huge example on why making connections are so important. I met Matt about five years ago through friends. He was a fun, quirky musician that my friends were in a band with. I remember when he met Kristen and how he would talk about her anytime we saw him. I met her briefly at a party, thought she was really sweet, and went about my business. Now, almost half a decade later they are getting married and asked me to be a part of their day!! It’s an important lesson in making sure you are treating all people with kindness and respect because you do not know what your future with them will hold. And their wedding was a blast and felt like a huge reunion – so many of the guests used to be friends I would hang out with all the time. It was nice to be surrounded by familiar faces.
Oh my goodness, this wedding was a photographer’s dream; packed full with so many visually stimulating pieces. The grandest piece of all was the actual venue they were married in. The Mabel Tainter Theater served as the perfect spot for these two quirky and eclectic artists to be married in. The beautiful gold detail work throughout the walls and the lovely balconies facing the stage provided the most amazing backdrop for the couple. Kristen loves green, simple plants so ferns and succulents covered the tables for the reception, mixed in perfectly with antique books and glasses. She hand-painted all the signage throughout the reception hall to give the wedding a personal touch. They had a delicious Soup Bar (a buffet with all different soups) for dinner as an alternative to a normal family style dinner you typically see at weddings. After dinner the entire wedding headed to The Raw Deal where they danced the night away to jams like Tom Jone’s “Delilah” and Aaron Carter’s “That’s How I Beat Shaq.”
Congratulations Matt & Kristen! Here is to a lifetime of fun, laughter, happiness, amazing dancing and tea (that one’s for you Matt!)
