Ah, the lovely Kara.
I always look forward to spending time with Kara. She radiates light and positivity. It was an honor to sit down with her and her son, Augustus, and talk about motherhood. She has a very relaxed sense of parenting. She treats Augustus as her equal. She loves learning from him and being able to experience every new stage in his life.
After discussing such things as Augustus’ love for animals and how he just started gymnastics (which he loves), we moved onto some more serious notes. Motherhood has brought on a sense of fearlessness for Kara. She is the helper and protector if he needs anything. She will always be there.
A sense of calmness fell over me while we continued to talk about life. I asked her about struggles in her life and any advice she would have for others and she just smiled at me. Her answer was so simple and perfect. She said, do not listen to what others have to say; find your own, organic way of doing things. And remember, “we are put with the people we can learn the most from.” Love it.
We ended our chat with some hula-hooping (Kara is great at hooping and taught Augustus how to hoop when he was only two years old) and more photos.
Thank you so much Kara and Augustus for letting me take a small look into your world. I am so grateful.

Oh my goodness! This is so beautiful in every way. Perfectly captured by words, photos, and spirit. Love.
you always have the best monochromatic edits. Such great tones in them and perfect lighting.
