Cheers to another fantastic year! And what a fantastic year it’s been! I’ve shot so many weddings and amazing sessions over this past year and I’m so thankful for every one. I’m now looking forward to 2015 – a year full of new adventures and experiences. A year dedicated to saying yes to our dreams and setting big, BIG goals for ourselves. I’ve complied a list of goals and resolutions for myself of what I’d like accomplish over the next twelve months. Some are business oriented while other are a little more personal. I like to call this list Shaunae’s Kick-Butt, Reach-for-the-Stars, Anything-Could-Happen, Heck-Yeah-2015, List of Resolutions.
Business
Travel & Shoot – Traveling was one of my first loves. Exploring new places I have never been before and experiencing new things makes my heart soar. I would love to combine my two loves, photography and travel, to create some big, beautiful adventures over the next year. So if you think of place I should visit this year, let me know! I’m open to all your suggestions. (:
Faster turnaround time – I love working on and editing photos for my clients but this year I got so busy, I was not delivering galleries and photos until about 6-8 weeks later. I definitely would like to cut that time down so everyone can be enjoying their photos a lot sooner.
Explore new lighting techniques – As photographers, we are always evolving, always looking for new ways to create beautiful imaginary. I’m constantly looking for new ways to improve what I’m already doing and this year I want to expand my external lighting knowledge. I’ll be upgrading to the Canon 600s and I cannot wait to start incorporating them into my weddings.
Shoot for myself – I realized this year, I barely shot anything personal or to create my own art. It’s so liberating to make photographs just for yourself, just to experiment. I want to take time each month to go out and make photographs for no one else but me.
Blog daily – Over this past year my blogging has changed dramatically. I went from only posting a couple photos once and a while to blogging 2-3 times each week. For 2015 I want to continue creating great content for this blog and keep sharing with you all.
Teach other photographers – I have learned so much on my journey into photography and owning a business and I want to be able to give back to other photographers. I want to share my knowledge with all those who are just beginning. This year will be full of mini-workshops, mentoring sessions, and helping photographers that are just starting out.
Personal
Yoga five times a week for at least 30 minutes – I used to do yoga all the time but as I got busier, I found myself doing less and less to make up time. No more of that in 2015 – I plan on making the time for my physical health in the new year.
Spend more quality time with family – Not just a quick visit here or there – I want to spend hours laughing and talking, just being together. Family is so important and I want to be around them as much as possible.
Choose foods that are better for myself – Enough of just grabbing whatever food is quick and easy, I’m ready to start making the conscious choice of what foods I put into my body. I’m ready to start really thinking about what I’m choosing. This does not mean I’m starting a diet or I want to lose weight, I just want to be smart about what I’m choosing to fuel me.
Use my kitchen more – On top of choosing the right foods for my body, I also want to be cooking and making my own food whenever I can. I’m excited to actually have the chance to spend more time in my kitchen.
Make time for friends and coffee – With this past year being so busy I put a lot on the back burner, including all the wonderful people that want to get together for some yummy coffee and a nice chat. Usually, I would feel guilty if I chose to meet up with them, constantly thinking about all the work I still had to do. 2015 will be all about balance, finding time for work and for friends.
It’s a long list of goals but one I’m ready to work hard on. 2015 is sure to bring beautiful experiences for us all. I would love to hear what you are thinking about for the New Year. What are your resolutions, goals, and dreams? What are you most looking forward to in 2015?
