A romantic evening, a big surprise, and that life-changing question, “Will You Marry Me?” Cue the fireworks, pop the champagne, it’s time to celebrate! It’s that magical time of year! It’s Engagement Season! So many sweet couples are choosing to spend the rest of their lives together.
But what happens after the proposal? When the excitement fades and reality sets in. What’s next? It’s one of the biggest questions my couples ask me. “I’m engaged, now what?” In this new blog series, I’ll answer that exact question. Over the next few weeks, we’ll cover ALL the steps between “I will” to “I do.”
First Step: Share the news!
People want to know you’re engaged! From your closest family members to your friends you live across the country, share the good news!
Call The Important People First
Your parents, your siblings, your bestie. They need to hear from you personally. You don’t want them scrolling through Facebook and just seeing your status update. Call those important people before posting anything.
Decide When & How You Want to Post
It’s not a secret that you’ll soon be sharing your engagement on social media. But before you press “Post” make sure you and your fiancé discuss when is the right time. Do you want to do it right away? Do you want to wait a little bit so you can bask in the moment? Maybe you want to get a manicure for when you show off your pretty new ring. Make a plan instead of just snapping.
Get Ready to Share Your Proposal Story… A LOT!
You’re sharing your news and soon you’ll be meeting with vendors. One of the first questions anyone will ask you will be “How did the proposal go?!” It’s exciting the first few times you share but it feels repetitive after awhile. Remember to always have fun with it and switch off who’s going to share to keep it interesting!
Next week we are diving into Step Two! Are you ready?!
