For my weddings, I usually write up the couple’s love story and share it with their Engagement or Wedding images. But at Samantha and Benjamin’s wedding, their DJ, Taylored Weddings, not only wrote up their love story, but shared it with the entire reception. It was a beautiful way for all their guests to celebrate this amazing couple and their love! Their DJ was kind enough to send me their story so I could share it with their gorgeous wedding images.
“The Love Story of Samantha and Benjamin began at the front desk of Western Racquet and Fitness Club in Green Bay. Benjamin would come in at night to play basketball and Samantha, the front desk check-in receptionist, would check him in. He wanted to introduce himself but he was way too nervous. One evening – in the middle of a workout – Ben received a Facebook friend request and clicked on the link. He couldn’t believe it! It was Samantha, the desk girl!! They began messaging each other and Benjamin soon asked Samantha out to dinner. In spite of not wanting to begin a relationship because she was going to be moving in a month for physician assistant school, she still said yes.
From their first date at Plae Bistro to the weeks that followed before Samantha’s move, they grew closer together as they got to know each other. Ben took a day off work to help her move and get settled in her new apartment and for that first summer of PA school, they FaceTimed every night, and he managed to visit her just about every weekend. After months of making the trip back and forth, Benjamin knew he needed to be closer to Samantha and took a job in Milwaukee.
After asking Samantha’s parents for their blessing, it was time to for Ben to make a plan to propose. Getting the right ring was easy, but trying to come up with a plan to surprise the most aware person you will ever meet was no easy task. Ben ‘happened to have’ the day after Easter off so he suggested – adamantly insisted – that they go to the Lion’s Den Nature Preserve overlooking the bluffs of Lake Michigan in Port Washington. It was one of the first places they discovered together near their Grafton home, one of their favorite places to explore, and also the place where they first said ‘I love you.’ They arrived at their favorite spot under a tree on the edge of the bluff looking out over Lake Michigan and Benjamin said, ‘I have something important to ask you.’ Neither remembers exactly what was said, except that Samantha’s eyes lit up and she said ‘YES’ immediately.”
Samantha and Benjamin tied the knot this October in the most beautiful and classic Autumn wedding! I was beyond honored to photograph this celebration of love for these two amazing humans! Congratulations to this happy couple!
