Liz and Brandon met in 2008 when Brandon and his family moved across the street from Liz and her family. As neighbors, they would spy on each other through their front windows. Liz would try to get his attention by tanning in her driveway. Not to be outdone, Brandon would play sports in his front yard so she would notice him. All their sneakiness worked because they started dating for a little bit in middle school. Soon after, they went their separate ways for a few years to focus on school. But they reconnected in 2011, when Brandon asked Liz to be his girlfriend as the fireworks lit up the sky above them on the Fourth of July. They have been together ever since!
On their five year anniversary, they headed down to Riviera Maya, Mexico to celebrate. Brandon knew he wanted to propose but he wanted to wait for just the right moment. After a relaxing day on the beach, they sat down for a delicious dinner at one of the main restaurants. Soon, a Mariachi band started to play. Before they knew it, the band came over to their table to play, just for them!
Liz remembers the moment perfectly, “As I listen and enjoy the music, I look down and see Brandon kneeling in front of me with a beautiful, shiny diamond. My senses were overloaded! I don’t remember what he said. I was in absolute shock, but I did say ‘yes’ over and over. I think the best part was that Brandon didn’t even plan for the Mariachi band to come! It was a spur of the moment idea and he just so happened to have the ring in his pocket.”
We celebrated their love with a beautiful engagement session at the Green Bay Botanical Garden. Liz has always been obsessed with Paris (they are even going there on their honeymoon) and we wanted to incorporate that love into our shoot. What’s more Parisian than champagne, macarons, and our own mini Eiffel Tower?! This session is easily one of my new favorites. Liz and Brandon just exude love for one another and I was beyond thrilled to document it. We had the best shoot and you would have no idea that it was cold and rainy the entire time!
Thanks to Dana Michele Makeup for Liz’s beautiful look and Petal Pushers for the lovely bouquet!
