Happenings: Spent most of my weekend out in the sun as much as possible! Days were filled with lounging in the backyard and sipping Sangria.
I’m not a huge fan of cooking. I’m always so busy with other things, I feel like I’m just wasting time preparing a meal for an hour when it’s going to take me ten minutes to eat it. But, I absolutely love homemade food! So, I’m breaking the habit! My goal is to pick a well thought out meal, buy all the ingredients and cook at least one meal a week. I know for some of you you’re thinking, “Umm… one meal? That’s easy.” For me, it’s not, trust me. But I want to try to love cooking and have more fun in my kitchen. I want to start building memories there. Thankfully, Kyle is a huge help and a great cook! Our first meal – homemade Shepherd’s Pie. I even mashed the potatoes! It was delicious, by the way.
Attended Celebrate De Pere, a little festival full of rides, music, and food put on by our town. My favorite part is the fireworks. Grab a blanket, pick a spot in the grass, and watch the fireworks shoot off under the sky full of stars. Ahhh…
Some days I wonder what I’m doing with life. Am I living it to the fullest? Am I expressing my gratitude enough for all the good in it? Am I taking advantage of all the opportunities being presented? I can be pretty hard a myself (that’s the perfectionist in me coming out) and Tuesday was one of those days. So to get out of that funk I decided to treat myself to a Starbucks coffee. What should I find on my coffee sleeve but a little quote from Oprah saying, “No experience is ever wasted. Everything has meaning.” It was exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks Oprah! (:
Spent time with one of my favorite little families, the Laurents, to photograph baby Parker’s newborn session! I cannot wait to share all his cuteness and his adorable Where the Wild Things Are nursery with you all soon!
New Favorite: Fresh cut Lily of the Valleys from my mom’s yard! They smell amazing and I keep them locked in my office so my cats don’t get to them (lilies are poisonous to cats.)
Thankful: My new cooking adventure. I cannot wait to start collecting recipes I like, learning new tricks, and tasting all the food I will make myself! I want to pass on recipes to my children and spend time cooking with them. I better get started now so I will actually have something to pass on. (:
