Maura and Mark’s beautiful Nordic Trails Wedding is here! These two first met in August of 2012. They started as friends and soon grew into a relationship. They are super adventurous and loved traveling to different countries together. Mark shares about one of his favorite memories from when they started dating. “Our first weekend away together was to Croatia,” he says. “We got incredibly sunburned and bummed around the outskirts of Dubrovnik. One of the nights we sat on a completely private ledge overlooking a thunderstorm over the sea and drank screw-top wine and ate cheap pretzels.”
Mark proposed at their favorite neighborhood bar from when they lived in Milwaukee. Maura’s reaction to his proposal was around three minutes of crying and saying “Are you kidding me?” Nobody else was there, they had their favorite appetizer (buffalo calamari) and he got out of his bar stool to get on one knee. It was perfect!
Like most couples this year, Mark and Maura had to restructure a lot of their original wedding plans. Their big wedding in Green Bay in May turned into an intimate wedding in August at Kettle Moraine State Forest. Maura and Mark were driving around looking for a location and stopped at the park where Maura found the most beautiful trees. She knew that was the spot she wanted to marry Mark!
I loved being a part of this cozy and romantic day. Just Maura and Mark’s family (including their grandparents) were in attendance. Mark’s dad was the officiant and after the ceremony, they set up a beautiful picnic and fire for everyone to enjoy. Mark and Maura are the sweetest and they made sure everyone was taken care of. They even poured champagne for all their guests for dinner. They truly are the most wonderful couple.
Congratulations Maura and Mark! Here’s to a lifetime full of adventures and joy!
