After hearing Lara Casey speak at The Rising Tide Society Summit this past December, I was so moved by her words and her story that I felt compelled to buy her book, “Make It Happen”, right after. I knew I wanted to live a more intentional life, a life full of what really matters – love, relationships, and family. I had watched myself over the past year become consumed by how my business was doing, how many followers I had, and how fast I was booking up my calendar. I was missing out on what was really important. I knew the first step to starting a new beginning was to read Lara’s book and hear how she dealt with that same struggle I was experiencing. This past week, all curled up in my cozy bed, I finally finished reading it.
I am beyond grateful for Lara’s strength and honesty in sharing her story. She helped me realize that I was glorifying the word “busy” and not living my life with purpose. I always thought if I was successful that would bring me to my purpose or if I could book every single Saturday possible that would bring me to my purpose. And if those things did not happen then I felt like a failure. Lara’s book showed me that I can let go of that need to be busy and perfect and to focus on building lasting relationships with my family, my friends, and my faith. She let me know it’s OK to set boundaries and say no because it will help me balance my work life and my personal life. Most of all she reminded me that my time on this Earth is precious and to enjoy it, every single day.
If you are chasing perfection, constantly worrying about how you’re going to do it all then I highly suggest that you stop what you’re doing at read “Make It Happen.” It will help you slow down and make you realize that you are exactly where you are suppose to be. While you read, you’ll start thinking about a more purposeful life and how you can make that happen. The best part about this book is that it is interactive, you can actually answer questions about your life and write notes to yourself. It makes you take action for your life instead of just reading and wishing things would happen. You are responsible for your life and your happiness and I just know, you can live your life with purpose too!
