I loved capturing Maria and Jason’s Seattle courthouse elopement! These two are the absolute sweetest and it was a joy to spend the afternoon with them. They actually found my work on TikTok (I know, so fun!) and getting to know them over the last few weeks was a blast.

Maria and Jason matched on Bumble in June of 2021 but first met in person that August. Maria was drawn to Jason’s gentle energy and spirit while Jason was intrigued by Maria’s outgoing and fun personality. They both felt so comfortable with each other right away and they built the most beautiful relationship. Nowadays they love lounging at home with all their animals, trying out new coffee shops, and going for nature walks with their dog, Lola.

Jason had help from their pets when he proposed. Maria shares the story, “Jason put my ring on our cat, Gary’s, collar which he knew would get my attention because our cats only wear collars if they go outside. Sure enough, it did get my attention and I immediately knew what was happening because we’ve talked about this exact scenario before. It was very low-key but still very meaningful and the perfect way I could imagine a proposal to go.”

I met up with Maria and Jason and their parents at the Seattle Courthouse for their intimate wedding. We spent some time beforehand creating portraits around downtown Seattle. When it was time, we made our way up to the rooftop where Maria and Jason vowed to spend forever together. Their wedding day was such a beautiful reminder that it doesn’t matter the size of your wedding, it can still be full of love and joy.
