I can now officially add, “Photograph a wedding during a Tornado Warning” to my list. Rikki and Adam’s wedding day started in the darkest and gloomiest way. While they were getting ready, rain started to pour and all of a sudden, the tornado sirens went off. We just kept going as if everything was normal, except when it came time to leave for the ceremony site. The bride and bridesmaids were held back by the hotel because they said it wasn’t safe to drive yet. I missed that memo and left in my own car. About five minutes into driving, I could no longer see, the rain and wind was blowing so hard. I was about to pull over and wait out the storm when a tree fell down RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I knew that was my sign to wait it out.
After waiting in my car in a parking lot for 10 minutes, I decided to brave the storm once more. The rain had settled a bit and I was able to make it to the ceremony. Everyone else arrived soon after and thankfully, the ceremony was indoors. We were completely ready to photograph everything inside if we had to. But right after family portraits; the clouds parted, the rain stopped, and a little light poked through. We rushed outside and were able to create ALL bridal party and bride and groom portraits OUTSIDE! It was a wedding day miracle.
Besides the weather, the day was perfection. If you know Rikki and Adam, you know how much love they have for each other and their families. I saw that love at their Engagement Session and knew their wedding would not disappoint. It was one big celebration of love and joy. We even ended the day in the best possible way, with a gorgeous sunset!
Thanks Rikki and Adam for an unforgettable wedding day! There is no one I’d rather brave a tornado with!
I’m obsessed with Rikki’s ring!
The best group of girls around! They were so much fun to work with!
Had to share a little bit of what the weather looked like!
It may be stormy outside, but it was so peaceful inside this church at St. Norbert Campus.
Married! Woohoo!
Trees were down all over campus! We didn’t let that stop us though!
The Newlyweds!
Tornado who?! We laugh in the face of tornados!
It’s beer o’clock!
Loved being at the Hyatt Regency/KI Center again and I loved working with Sweet ‘N’ Easy Events/88 Events again!
First dance with Rikki and her brother then Adam and his mother to kick off the night!
I love sneaking out for a mini sunset session with the bride and groom!
First dance and we got to see how Adam proposed to Rikki! How beautiful!
Thanks to all the amazing wedding vendors that helped make Rikki & Adam’s big day wonderful!
